1) Opening today is Gun Hill Road, the story of a father (Esai Morales) who returns home to the Bronx following a three-year stay in prison. He comes back to his wife (Judy Reyes), who has distanced herself from the marriage, and his teenage daughter Vanessa (Harmony Santana), who came out as transgender and began her transition while he was away.

2) Tune in on August 9 at 10:00 p.m. as Versus premieres OUT: The Glenn Burke Story, a documentary produced by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area about the first openly gay Major League Baseball player, finding acceptance from his team's management and his struggle with HIV/AIDS.

3) Next Wednesday marks the release of Archie’s Kevin Keller #2. In "The Write Stuff" Kevin plans a birthday party for his dad with Veronica's help. And while they flip through photos and stories about Kevin's past, he comes to realize how much Riverdale feels like home.

4) GLAAD honoree and Chairman of NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt is working with Sean Hayes to develop a new comedy starring the out actor. While not much is known about the project, Greenblatt is responsible for many shows featuring quality LGBT characters on Showtime, and we're hoping this project will be no exception.
5) All girl rock band Sick of Sarah just released an official video for "Giving Up." The band is also on tour through the end of September. Head to their Facebook page to find a date near you.

6) MTV has announced a new category for the 2011 Video Music Awards. The Best Video With A Message category highlights videos with strong advocacy messages. Among the nominees are P!nk's "F*****g Perfect, " Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," Katy Perry's "Firework," Raise Against's "Make it Stop (September Children)" and Taylor Swift's "Mean."
